Marcus Nobrega wins prestigious award

On November 26th, 2024, Marcus Nobrega received the award for outstanding Ph.D. dissertation in Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (USP). USP is recognized as the best university in Latin America, often situated in the top 80 worldwide. Marcus' thesis was awarded this honor because it deals with prediction of floods and their environmental and social impacts. This topic was particularly important in a year when Brazil suffered one of the biggest environmental catastrophes in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, leaving hundreds of dead and thousands homeless.
